I have waited years. And years. And years for this movie to come out.

I read all the rumors. I read about the setbacks, I read it was never going to happen more than once.

I can remember the day news came out that filming had actually started, and some set pictures surfaced. It was amazing. I was so happy to know this movie was real.

Fast forward a few more years and this sucker is finally out.

and it absolutely and completely lives up to the hype and blew every expectation I had completely away.

This is very seriously possible the best action movie ever made. It is also very possible it is my new favorite film ever.

George Miller is a genius and it shows in every single shot and setpiece of this film. Everything looks real BECAUSE IT IS REAL. All those insane vehicles exist with so many little details that no other filmmaker would bother with and it shows. It makes all the difference. It is ridiculously cool.

The action scenes themselves are insane and utterly unrelenting. It keeps going and going and notching up the intensity slowly but surely until you feel like it can’t go anywhere else…and then it does.

Every crash and explosion and jump and death shown is crystal clear, incredibly satisfying detail. No bullshit super quick cuts or shaky cam segments. It is amazing. We haven’t see this like this for years and years and it took George Miller to mix old-school film making with some new style to deliver.

Max is reborn as a similar but different character played by Tom Hardy. He does a great job, but I feel like the best character in this movie is Furiosa played by Charlize Theron. So ridiculously badass and cool and strong. Words cannot describe how happy I am with the characterization in this movie.

I wanted to watch this again instantly.

I sincerely hope this is the start of another Mad Max trilogy and/or George Miller directing more action oriented movies, because holy shit. Just…holy shit.
